then go to Gwangju and experience the Makers Internship!

With my abilities, I can create my own future!

A maker is someone who does various creative activities using easily accessible technology, without sticking to traditional categories.

This means anyone can create what they want, even if they are not experts.

In Gwangju, a cooperative formed by young people has many makers who create their own unique ideas.

How about joining them to make your own items and express yourself?

In a free environment where no one forces you, you can make the things you always wanted.

Second, you can try machines that are not easy to access.

You can explore areas you're interested in, like 3D printing, digital devices, woodworking, metalworking, and glass crafting.

Third, you can learn more about yourself.

While making various things, you can discover your talents and what excites you more.

Stop following the same path as others! Now, create what you want and expand your own world.

Just take one thing: the "desire to do something"and let's head to Gwangju!

This project is a makers internship in Gwangju where you can create what you want.

Participants can use the necessary machines such as 3D printers, pottery kilns, laser cutters, UV printers, and various woodworking and metalworking tools.

You can make various items, from unique toys to furniture, using different equipment.

Main activity schedule

09:00 ~ 12:00	Makers Workshop - 3D, laser, glass, textile, woodworking, and metalworking.
12:00 ~ 13:00	Lunch
13:00 ~ 15:00	Makers Seminar - Lectures and manual development. - Team coaching using design thinking and MTA methods.
15:00 ~ 18:00	Makers Sports Day - A sports day where makers try to change things through hacking tools and their purposes.

*These activities are examples to help understand the program. The schedule may change depending on the time of participation and local conditions.

- Hands that create the area: A project connecting local artisans with young makers.

- Co-Design Camp: A camp suggesting cooperative models to solve everyday problems.

- Self Award: Support for those who work hard and create (e.g., awards for trying something and learning from it, or awards for unexpected achievements).

- Local Community: Running a community to build a social challenge network for local youth.

- Traveling Maker Education: Workshops to solve cultural and educational gaps in rural areas.

- Global Maker-Network: Exchange with overseas makers and maker spaces.

This organization is a youth cooperative located in Gwangju.

We operate a makerspace and provide equipment for our members to create items, along with conducting maker workshops.

We also develop and carry out maker education to spread maker culture in the community, and we visit areas lacking in maker education to help children with their hands-on activities.

Additionally, we plan and run maker events, conduct research to solve everyday and social problems, and act as mentors to support the founding of cooperatives to spread maker culture.

| Region : Gwangju Metropolitan City

Gwangju is a metropolitan city located in the central-northern part of Jeollanam-do and is the largest city in the Honam region.

It ranks as the 6th largest city in South Korea after Seoul, Busan, Daegu, Incheon, and Daejeon, and is known as a center for culture and art.

It is also a place where many artists come from, as there are many people who enjoy art.

Gwangju blends taste and style, leading the culture of the southern region, and hosts various festivals.

You can enjoy events like the Gwangju Biennale, the Gwangju Kimchi Festival, and the Gwangju International Film Festival, and at Daein Market, which has transformed into a cultural arts market, you can experience the charm of a night market.

1. Penguin Village

Yangnim-dong's Penguin Village Craft Street has turned from a village in the 70s and 80s into an exhibition space, and you can see it by going down a narrow alley marked with penguin-shaped signs. The name Penguin Village came from seniors who walked awkwardly due to knee problems, resembling penguins. The villagers started to clean up old houses that were left empty after a fire and began displaying discarded items on the neighborhood walls. Various workshops like leather, textile, and woodworking are available on the craft street where you can buy or try making lovely crafts."Let’s be grateful for being alive in those times." Come visit this artsy street where the past and present coexist.

2. Uchi Park Zoo

Gwangju Uchi Park Zoo operates experience programs where families can interact with a variety of animals like elephants, giraffes, lions, and tigers, making it a great place for family visitors. The zoo houses mammals, birds, reptiles, and more, allowing for a convenient viewing experience.

3. Mudeungsan Mountain

Mudeungsan, known as the mountain that protects Gwangju, is so high that it's hard to measure and has no rival, meaning it can't even be graded. The mountain has gentle slopes and is rounded, consisting of three rocky peaks called Cheonwangbong, Jiwangbong, and Inwangbong, also known as the three great peaks. Around the peak, there are strange rock formations and temples, and there are places like national parks and natural recreation forests for people to rest. In autumn, Mudeungsan showcases stunning fall foliage and silver grass, while in winter, the snow and ice formations are beautiful, attracting many visitors.
