Project introduction

*This project is for foreign participants.

You will live in Gurye, Jeollanam-do, and use local ecological resources to plan and implement eco-friendly content.

Express the diverse charm of Jiri Mountain and Seomjin River through your own content and experience it with others.

This will help spread a love and care for nature.

Through the content you create,we will help create a sustainable ecosystem where people and nature coexist, and assist in local regeneration and circulation.

(*This project is for foreign participants.)

Reasons why this project is good

  • You can learn while having fun.

You will directly experience various content in Gurye, such as playgrounds made from Jiri Mountain trees and observing the Seomjin River ecosystem while kayaking,

and learn how to coexist with nature.

  • During your stay, your body and mind will heal.

The scenery of the Jiri Mountain forest surrounding Gurye brings peace and calm.

Phytoncide and negative ions from the actual forest help remove bad substances from your body and reduce stress.

  • The beautiful sunset and falling stars are a bonus:

Use your free time after work to walk along the Seomjin River and enjoy the beautiful sunset. If it's a clear day with no clouds,

you can also watch the stars decorating the night sky from Nogodan.

City travel information

| Region : Jeolla Province, Gure

1. Jirisan Nogodan

: Known as the Alps of Korea, it is considered one of the three main peaks of Jirisan along with Cheonwangbong and Banyabong. Nogodan has beautiful views of the Seomjin River, azaleas in spring, daylilies in summer, autumn leaves, and snow in winter, changing with the seasons. Recently, a tourist road connecting to Seongsamjae has opened, making it much easier to visit.

2. Hwaeomsa

: Hwaeomsa in Gure, founded in the 22nd year of the Baekje King Seong, is a thousand-year-old holy site. It has many cultural treasures and beautiful scenery, living up to its name as a treasure trove of cultural heritage. With more than ten national treasures and artifacts, it is called the treasure chest of Jirisan. Besides the amazing sights, the hidden stories of the temple offer another layer of fun.

3. Cheonunsan

: Located below the road leading to Jirisan Nogodan, Cheonunsa is one of the three major temples of Jirisan, along with Hwaeomsa and Ssanggyesa. It is said to have been founded by the monk Deokun in the 3rd year of Silla's King Heungdeok (828 AD). The temple used to be called Gamrosan (Sweet Dew Temple) due to its clean and cold spring water, which supposedly clears the mind. At one time, over 1,000 monks lived there. Cheonunsa's Suhongru has also been a filming location for the drama "Mr. Sunshine." Suhongru is the bridge where Ko Ae-shin (played by Kim Tae-ri) and Kim Hee-sung (played by Byun Yo-han) said their last goodbye, showcasing beautiful views of Cheonunsa.

4. Seomjin River Bamboo Forest Path

: The Seomjin River Bamboo Forest Path is a top travel spot in Gure. A bamboo forest lines the Seomjin River, making it great for a simple walk. There are rest areas along the walking path, and the sound of bamboo leaves rustling in the wind makes you feel relaxed and healed.

5. Ssangsanjae

: Ssangsanjae is a traditional house full of warmth and charm like your grandmother's home. The current owner's great-great-grandfather built it and named it "Ssangsanjae" after his pen name. It gained popularity after being featured on "Youn's Stay," which introduced the romance of traditional houses. The lush bamboo grove and reservoir beyond the living space add to the charm of Ssangsanjae.
