If you need a space to gain inspiration for your artistic feelings...?

If you want to plan fun and creative programs in a new place...?

Come here and show off your talents!

There is a cozy and warm country house ready for you in the peaceful and quiet village at the foot of Jirisan.

You'll find charming decorations touched by the owner's hand, and you can live with a shy dachshund named Jam, a stray dog named Bread, and a stray cat named Star.

As you live a slow life here, you can find the things you have missed while rushing through busy city life, one by one.

I recommend Gurye to those who arelocal creators.

First,

I am currently working as anartist or preparing to do so, and I need new content!

This is a chance to discover the content hidden around the village and recreate it into my own art.

Second,

I am currently working or preparing to work as aplanner and I want to actually carry out some projects!

If you don’t know where to start or what to do, try planning and executing projects you can do in Gurye.

Starting with small ideas, you will soon be able to plan and execute larger and more diverse projects!

Third,

I am feeling burned out from my current work and want to take a break to experience something new!burnout

Take a moment to heal in nature with the sounds of birds and the wind.

The animal friends at the accommodation will also help soothe your tired heart.

As you relax and take it easy, new ideas will start to flow!

Project activities

- The story of Hwangjeon Village in Gurye

It seems to be named Hwangdun because the land has been fertile and grains have been plentiful for a long time.
Due to the merging of administrative districts, the name of the legal district became Hwangjeon-ri, taking 'Hwang' from Hwangdun and 'Jeon' from Ujeon.
However, it is more famous as the village at the entrance to Hwaeomsa Temple than by the name 'Hwangjeon Village,' and
because of that, it is a village where people are always coming and going.
A very long time ago, it was a place where people who wanted to become monks stayed, so it is also a village of separations.
Now, depending on the season, various large and small festivals are held each year, such as the Gurye Mountain Suyu Flower Festival, the Seomjin River Cherry Blossom Festival, and the Jirisan Nammaeg Festival,
so participating in them can be a fun experience.
As you discover the stories that the village holds one by one,
you can combine your own ideas or talents to create new content,
so visit nearby tourist spots or connect with local residents to develop your ideas!

-Artist or planner local creator, creating village content.

This project allows you to choose either an artist program. or a planner program, and participate.

Option 1. Artist Local Creator

Any category related to art, like crafts, visual arts, pottery, music, dance, or video, is welcome.

Use your talent to stay in Gurye and create content!

You can create watercolors or crafts that capture Gurye's scenery, or music that reflects your feelings about Gurye, like documentaries.

If you explore the village and talk to the residents while getting immersed in Gurye's everyday life, your inspirations will blossom, leading to beautiful results :)

Option 2. Planner Local Creator

Plan projects that can be done in the village, such as village festivals, mural painting, local specialty flea markets, or Jirisan hiking communities!

You can work with village residents and also collaborate with young travelers staying in Gurye.

If you carefully select the hidden gems in the area and combine them with your ideas, great results will come!

This is an opportunity to freely express ideas you’ve only thought about but never put into action!

As much effort as you put in will bring amazing results.

It will be a great time for your talent and the local community to thrive together.

About the accommodation

A simple and warm country house.

This house is located between Jirisan Mountain and the Seomjin River. It is a remodeled old country house, including the main house where the owner lives and a separate guest house,

and there is a shared space with a deck.

The shared space is a large deck next to the owner's workspace, where you can listen to music and enjoy a cup of tea (or maybe a glass of wine?) to relax.

Also, there is a laundry room and a kitchen for cooking, so please note that :)

Even though it is an old house, the owners take good care of it, so you can live in a cozy space.

It's fun to see the charming decorations around the place.

There are also three mascot animals here.

There is a shy Dachshund named Jam, who doesn't approach people much but likes them and wags his tail from a distance,

and a friendly dog named Bang, who was rescued while doing volunteer work with singer Lee Hyori.

You won’t feel lonely with the only cat, a stray named Byeol, living here too :)

City travel information

Location: Jeollanam-do Gurye-gun

1. Hwaeomsa Temple

One of the things that comes to mind about Gurye is Hwaeomsa, which has many cultural treasures and can be considered a timeless masterpiece.

Hwaeomsa, the head temple of the 19th district of the Korean Buddhist Jogye Order, was designated as Historic Site No. 505 in 2009.

It is grand and elegant, and it is known as a cradle of rich Buddhist culture.

It is said that the temple was built in the 22nd year of the Baekje King Seong's reign (544 AD) by a monk, and it got its name from the two characters of the Hwaeomgyeong.

2. Gurye 5-day Market

The Gurye 5-day Market is a traditional market that opens on the 3rd, 8th, 13th, 18th, 23rd, and 28th of each month.

Since ancient times, it has been a representative local market where merchants and customers meet, along with Hwagae Market.

People from Hadong, Gokseong, Namwon, Suncheon, and Gwangyang gather here, making the market lively, and even if you don't buy anything, it's fun just to look around.

3. Bamboo Path by the Seomjin River

The bamboo path by the Seomjin River helps calm your mind with its beautiful river scenery.

You can take a stroll along the healing eco-trekking path and walk to the cherry blossom road, which is selected as one of Korea's beautiful roads.
