Create Your Own Classes and Inspire Children's Dreams in Wonsan Island, Korea

This is the village teacher project where I teach children at a small elementary school on Wonsando Island, helping them learn and grow together.

1. Create an education that makes children want to learn on their own.
At this school, there is a special culture where students earn points for reading books or using the library. They can use the points to buy snacks at the school store, and participants will work as village teachers in the school's library.By using the school's point system, you can make reading activities and various mission-based educational programs even more fun.The process of learning naturally while reading books, solving missions, and trying new activities will spark children's participation and curiosity. You will feel great joy in watching how children learn and grow on their own, experiencing how education can change people.

2. Create special connections at a warm and friendly school.
This place is a small island elementary school with about 10 students.Thanks to this, we can communicate closely with each child and build deep relationships. When we attend classes, talk, and play on the playground, we soon become not just teachers and students but supportive friends and mentors.In this warm community that feels like a family, which is hard to find in city schools, you can create special memories that you will cherish for a long time.

3. Give island children a wider world.
Children growing up on a small island have few chances to meet diverse people and have new experiences. They have few friends their age, and most adults around them work in fishing or farming, so they might feel limited in the jobs and lives they see.In this project, you will use your experiences and skills to introduce children to new learning, various jobs, cultures, and the world.Whether it’s art, music, sports, video production, discussion, or design, any field can provide valuable experiences for children to discover a new world.Experience a special time where your small talent becomes a gift that broadens children's dreams and career paths.

4. Plan and run your own classes.
This project has no set textbooks or methods.Participants will plan and run educational programs needed by children, based on their interests and strengths.You will have the opportunity to think about how to structure a day's lessons and what activities will spark children's curiosity, experiencing the entire process from planning to teaching and feedback. This experience will be beneficial not only in education but will also help develop planning, presenting, and communication skills. It will be a meaningful career experience for those interested in teaching, educational planning, content creation, or becoming instructors.

Participants will introduce various professions and cultures, sharing their experiences to help children explore new dreams and career paths. They will provide kids with new opportunities to view the world widely based on their own real-life experiences and stories.

3. Community Teacher Activities:
Participants will take on the role of a community teacher at school, living and communicating with the kids. During breaks or after school, they will chat and play with the children, being friendly mentors and teachers who share in the kids' school life.

4. Supporting School Events and Educational Activities:
Participants will join various educational activities and events at school, supporting teachers and students. They will engage in seasonal events and hands-on activities, experiencing a wide range of educational settings.

• In consultation with school teachers, they will prepare educational content suited to the students' ages and levels.
• They can also join regular classes as assistant teachers, supporting the school teachers.

• Anyone can participate even if they are not education majors, as long as they want to share their talents and experiences with children.
• Educational activities should be conducted with easy explanations matched to children's understanding, along with positive feedback, respect, and consideration.
• Instead of conveying a lot of information at once, activities should be short and simple, repeated so that kids can participate naturally.
• Please show attention and care to ensure all children participate and none are left out.
• Create an atmosphere where children's opinions are heard, with plenty of questions and dialogue, allowing free expression.

This is a public elementary school located in Wonsando, Boryeong, Chungcheongnam-do, South Korea. It has a long history since it opened in 1937. The school doesn't have many students, but it provides careful attention to each child. They have various educational programs that take advantage of the island's features, such as a reading point system, mudflat experiences, and marine education. The local community and alumni work together to keep the school thriving. The school has a warm community culture and family-like atmosphere where children can grow up healthy.

It is an attractive travel destination that many people visit throughout the year, as they can enjoy various marine leisure activities and fishing village culture, including the world-famous Boryeong Mud Festival. Recently, with the opening of the Boryeong Undersea Tunnel and the Wonsan-Anmyeon Bridge, access to the islands has significantly improved, allowing for a more convenient experience of the beautiful nature and village life of the West Sea. In Boryeong, where the convenience of the city coexists with the leisure of the countryside, the open sea views, warm people, and the life of fishing villages living in tune with nature create a special time that is hard to find elsewhere.

Wonsan Island, with its beautiful beaches, vast mudflats, and charming fishing village, is a representative island of the West Sea.Since the Boryeong Undersea Tunnel opened, its accessibility has improved, making it a new travel destination. Here, you can experience the leisurely life of the island village amid a small port, sea path, and beautiful sunset views.Experience various charms of the West Sea fishing village, from fishing and mudflat activities to fresh seafood, all in one place.

2. Daecheon Beach
Daecheon Beach is famous for its wide, soft white sand and beautiful sunsets, making it a representative beach of South Korea.Every summer, the world-famous Boryeong Mud Festival is held, attracting many visitors who can enjoy swimming and various marine leisure activities.The beach has well-maintained walkways, cafes, and restaurants, allowing you to enjoy the relaxed scenery of the West Sea and the charm of the sea at any time of the year.

02Fill out the participation application.	- Please express yourself comfortably and honestly without any pressure.
03Pay the project fee.	- After confirming the project registration fee or full payment, your application will be sent to the local organization. - If needed, a Skype interview will be arranged for confirmation after the project fee is paid. - If the local organization does not approve, 100% of the registration and participation fees will be refunded.
04Get the payment confirmation text.	- The day after the participant pays the project fee, we check and send a confirmation text. - If you do not receive a text the day after the payment, please contact us! (For payments on the weekend, we check it on Monday morning.)
05Confirmation of project participation.	- It takes about 1 to 7 days for the local organization to review the application and finalize the decision. - If you are finally accepted into the project, the person in charge will contact you separately.
06Arrival and project start.	- Participants will meet the person in charge after arriving at the location and undergo a local orientation. - After the local orientation, participants should understand the information provided by the local organization, and during the project period, , they should always be aware of safety as they start the project. (* Note that local orientation may not take place depending on the local organization, and it can change or be reduced based on the situation.)
07 Submit feedback after the project is over.	- After the project ends, participants should submit a project review, and after reviewing it, a certificate will be issued.
