At the wooden workshop in Bonghwa, you can make small items like keychains, furniture, and even wooden houses.You will learn woodworking skills with guidance from expert masters.After learning the basics and how to use tools, participants can design and make crafts of their choice.Experience the tradition and expertise of woodworking in Bonghwa, famous for its high-quality wood.

2. Hands-on experience running a woodworking workshop.
Another feature of this project is that you will run a woodworking experience room in the Bonghwa National Arboretum.You can plan and run various classes and exhibitions.Participants will share their creations with visitors and learn how creative activities connect to real experience programs. You will have your own woodworking time to run the shop,display your wooden art pieces, and plan workshop experience programs.

3. Woodworking arts activities that help protect the environment.
By joining the project, you will experience how your creative work contributes to environmental protection.You will transform wood collected from wildfire-damaged areas in Gyeongsangdo into new crafts and experience art that heals the wounds of the forest.You can also participate 1-2 times a week in seed ball planting activities in wildfire areas to help restore the forests and ecosystems.Experience a sustainable art project that protects nature.

*Seed ball: Seeds are wrapped in compost and soil to form a ball, making it easy to plant.

This is a woodworking art project where you can learn woodworking skills at a wood workshop in Bonghwa, create your own wooden art pieces, and run a woodworking experience workshop. It is designed for beginners to learn safely and easily, combining professional training with hands-on practice, and includes eco-friendly activities that utilize trees damaged by forest fires.

Project Activities

1) Woodworking Theory and Practice

• Understanding wood and training in tools and equipment.
• Learning how to use equipment through safety training and simple practices.

2) Workshop Experience and Creative Activities

• Planning and designing woodworking products using a 3D printer.
• Hands-on practice creating simple woodworking items like cutting boards, trays, and keychains.

3) Operating the Experience Site and Project Planning

• Guiding and assisting in crafting experiences with a master.
• Planning and operating woodworking art and exhibition projects in the arboretum, such as treehouses and rural cabins.

• Visiting forest fire-affected areas in Gyeongsang-do and planting seed balls.

Woodworking Experience Precautions

• Always wear protective gear (gloves, safety glasses, apron, etc.) while working on woodworking.
• Wear work clothes or clothing that is resistant to stains.
• Tools must be used only after receiving prior training.
• Dispose of scrap wood and sawdust in designated areas.

• If you have a woodworking item or project you want to make, you can discuss it with the woodworking master.
• If participants wish, woodworking experience education can be offered in the arboretum.
• You can travel to Bonghwa city by bus, and the bus fare within the military area is free.
• Accommodation is on the second floor of the workshop, and the kitchen and laundry facilities are shared.

This woodworking shop is located in Bonghwa County, Gyeongbuk. It produces wooden crafts and runs various woodworking and environmental projects. The shop makes everything from simple wood items like art pieces, cutting boards, and keychains to more complex structures like treehouses, barns, and wooden houses. Here, you can learn woodworking skills properly and plan and create your own desired projects. Additionally, this shop collaborates with the Forest Service to contribute to forest preservation efforts through seed ball planting activities in areas affected by wildfires.

You can stay in a place located on the second floor of the workshop. It is a pension-style accommodation with individual rooms, and you can use the living room, kitchen, and laundry facilities as shared spaces.

Bonghwa-gun in Gyeongsangbuk-do is a healing travel spot with clean nature and quiet mountain village scenery. It is located at the foot of Baekdudaegan and has fresh air and beautiful forest paths, making it a great place to relax away from the busy daily life.

1. National Baekdudaegan Arboretum
This national facility aims for forest conservation and education. It includes themed gardens, outdoor exhibition spaces, and areas for studying biological resources. Various alpine plants, medicinal plants, and wildflowers are displayed throughout the year, making it a good place to learn about nature while walking. The architecture and landscaping of the arboretum are excellent, plus the forest interpretation programs make it suitable for family travelers.

2. Cheongnyangsan Provincial Park
Cheongnyangsan, the famous mountain representing Bonghwa-gun, is known for its beautiful hiking trails, rocky cliffs, unique rock formations, and the Haneul Bridge viewpoint. At the summit, the serene Cheongnyangsa Temple is located, along with attractions like Eungjinjeon, Kimsaenggul, and Seonyugyo, so you can enjoy both scenery and culture. There are various trails from 1 hour to 9 hours long, suitable for beginners and experienced hikers.

3. Bunchun Santa Village
Bunchun Santa Village is a ‘Santa-themed’ village that shines during the winter festival at the end of the year. The V-Train heading here is a slow tourist train that passes through the Nakdong River gorge, offering an impressive view of mountains and rivers. There are various fun activities for both kids and adults, including VR experiences and a mini train.
